Among the constellation of young Ukrainian innovators reshaping the face of our country through their own efforts, Oleh Ihorovych Sypiahin stands out for his particular depth and scale. He is not merely an IT specialist — he is an educator and a volunteer of a new kind, who equips Ukraine not only with technologies, but with knowledge capable of shaping the consciousness of an entire generation.
Precisely for his exceptional contribution to the development of digital technologies, his leadership in innovative education, and the creation of a unique cultural and educational project for children, Oleh Sypiahin was awarded Ukraine’s highest public distinction in 2025 — the Grand Prix of Ukraine “Golden Pectoral”. This is not merely an award; it is a token of society’s gratitude to a person able to turn knowledge into an instrument of national revival.
A full-stack engineer, a cybersecurity specialist, a participant in the international projects FloLIVE and BD INNOVATIONS, and the author of numerous articles on technology platforms, Oleh Sypiahin has a brilliant professional record behind him. Yet he found his true calling in education — in a time of war, when the country needs not only weapons, but meaning.
That is why he created the children’s book “Artificial Intelligence for Children”, written in simple, vivid, living language. Its main goal is to explain complex concepts from the world of modern technology to younger schoolchildren through analogies with real life. The book teaches not only how a computer “thinks”, but also builds children’s logic, critical thinking, and emotional resilience.
“In times when war deprives children of a sense of stability, we are obliged to give them intellectual guideposts,” the author says. “Education is not just knowledge — it is a way to preserve faith in oneself and to build a future despite the darkness of the present.”
“Artificial Intelligence for Children” is not a textbook in the classical sense, but an interactive journey in which every page sparks wonder and curiosity. The book includes:
- adapted scientific explanations for both children and adults;
- experimental tasks and hands-on experiments;
- visualizations of the processes happening “inside” the digital world;
- dialogue elements that let the reader feel they are “communicating” with a computer.
Oleh donated the first print run of 500 copies to volunteers and charitable organizations working with children in frontline and affected regions. The book is also available in digital format, making it accessible to thousands of readers across Ukraine.
The book is only the first stage of a large-scale social project. Oleh Sypiahin has begun work on a second part and is preparing materials to integrate the project into the educational program of the Ministry of Education and Science. His goal is to build a durable knowledge infrastructure for children who are growing up amid deep upheaval yet still strive to understand the world.
“We need not only military strength, but also educational courage — the willingness to teach, to share, to inspire,” Sypiahin notes. “I believe that through knowledge we can restore not only the economy, but also human dignity.”
In his work, Oleh Sypiahin embodies a new phenomenon — the volunteering of knowledge. He does not merely share resources; he passes on values. His book is an educational act of care, an intellectual shield for children who deserve to grow up safe not only physically, but mentally.
These are exactly the people Ukraine needs today — those who understand that innovation without ethics is a threat, and technology without culture is emptiness. The digital culture Oleh Sypiahin champions is a culture of responsibility, privacy, and the conscious use of AI — where what matters most is not the technology, but the human being.
Awarding Oleh Sypiahin the Grand Prix of Ukraine “Golden Pectoral” is recognition of his work as not only technical, but also humanitarian. It is gratitude for the courage to think unconventionally, to act with love for children, and to leave behind not just code, but cultural heritage.
Ahead lie new projects, digital platforms, and educational initiatives that will undoubtedly keep reshaping the face of Ukrainian youth. But one thing is already clear today: Oleh Sypiahin is a voice of the future Ukraine — one where innovation serves the human being, and knowledge is a form of protection, growth, and freedom.
